What is MOT1?
MOT1 also known as Type 1 primary is an unbound natural aggregate that complies with SHW Clause 803. Material is graded from 60mm to dust and is often made from granite, limestone or basalt. It is a granular aggregate with minimal voids that compacts well where to form a solid flat surface.
What is MOT1 / Type 1 used for?
Type 1 is typically used to create a firm sub base for highways, car parks, drive ways and pathways, as well as a hardstanding for buildings and as a fill material.
What is the bulk density of MOT1?
1.6 tonne per m3 when loose and 1.8 tonne per m3 compacted.
