What is ballast?
Ballast refers to a mixture of sand and gravel that is used to make concrete. In general the sizing of the grains/stones varies from 0.1mm to 20mm and is produced using a mixture of sharp sand and 4-20mm pea shingle.
What is Ballast used for?
Ballast is used in landscaping and construction in various applications including paths, edgings, outdoor facility bases, fence post footings, and mixing in to concrete. We supply this material as raised ballast or as 20mm washed graded ballast.
What is the bulk density of Ballast?
1.8 tonne per m3 loose or 1.92 compacted.
Delivery available loose in 8 wheel tippers, grabs and artic lorries as well as in bulk bags.
